Review: The Enforcer by HelenKay Dimon

The Enforcer by HelenKay Dimon
Book Two of the Games People Play series
Publisher: Avon
Publication Date: April 25, 2017
Rating: 4 stars
Source: eARC from Edelweiss

Summary (from Goodreads):

Security expert Matthias Clarke hunts down people who don’t want to be found. His latest prey: the sole survivor of a massacre that killed his brother years ago. Kayla Roy claimed she was a victim of the carnage. Then she disappeared. Matthias thinks Kayla may have actually been the killer—and he wants justice.

Kayla Roy never stays in one place too long and never lets a man get too close. But keeping Matthias at arm’s length may be impossible. Dark and enigmatic, Matthias draws Kayla in from the start. She knows nothing about his connection to her dark past, or his thirst for vengeance. She only knows their attraction feels overpowering—and very dangerous.

Matthias’ suspicions about the sensual Kayla clash with his instinct to protect her, especially when he realizes her life is in danger. But Kayla’s not looking for a savior—especially one who seems hell-bent on tempting her down a lethal path.

What I Liked:

Last year, I read The Fixer and I liked it. It was a new HelenKay Dimon favorite of mine, but I enjoyed it a lot, especially for its originality and uniqueness. I don't read a ton of romantic suspense, but I've enjoyed the ones I've read, especially those by Dimon. The Enforcer was no exception! If anything, I enjoyed this book even more than I enjoyed The Fixer.

The Enforcer is the story of the enforcer, Matthias. He owns a security company and he is an expert at what he does. Right now, he is interested in finding Kayla Roy, sole survivor and former suspect of a brutal massacre (in which his brother died). But when he finds her, he quickly realizes that she didn't do it, that she wasn't and isn't capable of such a crime. Kayla has been running and hiding for years since the horrible massacre in her house at college seven years ago. Someone has been stalking her, leaving threats and watching her, no matter where she goes. When Matthias shows up, she isn't sure who he is, but some part of her knows he isn't here to hurt her. Matthias realizes that she isn't the murderer, and when Kayla's apartment is broken into and trashed, he also realizes that he isn't going to walk way. He will protect her at any cost, even if she doesn't want his help. Matthias isn't backing down, and Kayla isn't going to run and hide anymore.

This book was so entertaining, even for a romantic suspense novel! Well, that's not to say that suspense novels can't be entertaining. But often times, they are tense and a little odd and creepy. This book had tense moments, and a good build-up to the big reveal of the culprit, but it was also fun to read. That's one of the many things I love about romance novels - the tone of the book can still be fun and somewhat light, no matter the content of the book.

I love Matthias and his anti-human self. He isn't really antisocial, but he tries to avoid people. He would much rather be working through some security problem or puzzle or case in his office, than dealing with people. Matthias is similar to Wren (from The Fixer), because he is careful with his words, doesn't say anything he doesn't mean, is direct and honest, and sometimes doesn't have good people skills. Matthias is commanding and bossy and very used to getting his way. He also dresses really nicely and has nice manners. I adore him.

Kayla is the perfect match for Matthias. She is headstrong, independent, bossy, and doesn't take anyone's crap (definitely not Matthias's). She's very smart too, and she has good instincts. Sometimes Kayla is a little too bossy and a bit mean to Matthias (like, one or two times), but she does well to correct her mistakes and/or feel bad about them. I like that she is cautious with him and doesn't trust him immediately, but at the same time, she lets him in.

Kayla is the type of girl who doesn't like to ask for help, and Matthias is the type of guy who will help you whether you like it or not. They are perfect together! They have a lot of back-and-forth banter and comebacks (mostly Kayla, since Matthias is too sophisticated for comebacks - so it seemed). There is a lot of tension and chemistry between them from the start. It was funny to see Matthias do a 180 in terms of his opinion of her (he was hunting her because he thought she was responsible for the murders), but it was also funny to see Kayla do a 180 in terms of her opinion of him (she knew something was off about him and she thought he was a bad guy, but realized that he was on her side).

Suffice it to say, I liked their dynamic. Matthias is demanding, commanding, bossy, and used to people listening to him and being afraid of him. Kayla is independent and bossy herself, and she doesn't like Matthias's high-handedness at first. But she's also not stupid enough to think that she can take of herself after her stalker trashes her apartment. I like that she accepts his help. I also like that he gets put in his place every now and then by her.

Dimon's books are usually pretty hot, but like The Fixer, this one was not nearly as hot as her usual. But still, the chemistry between Matthias and Kayla was on fire, and there were a few steamy scenes that were well-written. The romance was well-written too, and there wasn't too much drama.

The "suspense" part of this romantic suspense novel was pretty interesting! I had a feeling about the culprit when that particular character was first introduced, BUT I never guessed the entire climax. Like, I guessed part of it correctly (in terms of the culprit), but not all of it. I don't want to give anything away so I'm being purposefully vague. I like how the big reveal wasn't entirely what the author set us up to believe! It's more than that. Good for Dimon! This book had a lot of action, plot twists, and a puzzling mystery (several, really). I was hooked! I could not put this book down until I was finished.

Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot - probably more than I enjoyed The Fixer, which I liked (though the female protagonist got on my nerves sometimes). I really hope there will be another book in this series (Garret + Lauren?), because I am here for it!

What I Did Not Like:

I mentioned earlier about how I wanted the steamy scenes to be more, well, steamy. I've read other Dimon books outside this series and those books were smoking hot! This book (and The Fixer) weren't super hot. I think I have too high expectations. Someone new to Dimon might think these books are plenty hot, so don't mind me!

Would I Recommend It:

If you like romantic suspense, give this series a chance! But in general, I highly recommend Dimon's books. Her stories are always so creative and her characters are (for the most part) really likable. Strong, fierce females and swoony, sexy alphas. My favorite of hers is Mine!

Rating:

4 stars. Another Dimon winner! I had a feeling I would enjoy this book and I definitely did. I'm excited to see what Dimon comes up with next! Hopefully a book three in this series.

Review: Till Death by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Till Death by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publisher: William Morrow
Publication Date: February 28, 2017
Rating: 4 stars
Source: eARC from Edelweiss

Summary (from Goodreads):

In New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s gripping new novel, a young woman comes home to reclaim her life—even as a murderer plots to end it. . .

It’s been ten years since Sasha Keaton left her West Virginia hometown . . . since she escaped the twisted serial killer known as the Groom. Returning to help run her family inn means being whole again, except for one missing piece. The piece that falls into place when Sasha’s threatened—and FBI agent Cole Landis vows to protect her the way he couldn’t a decade ago.

First one woman disappears; then another, and all the while, disturbing calling cards are left for the sole survivor of the Groom’s reign of terror. Cole’s never forgiven himself for not being there when Sasha was taken, but he intends to make up for it now . . . because under the quirky sexiness Cole first fell for is a steely strength that only makes him love Sasha more.

But someone is watching. Waiting. And Sasha’s first mistake could be her last.

What I Liked:

Jennifer L. Armentrout has proven that can write just about any genre and totally rock it. She has written countless Young Adult, New Adult, and Adult novels across many genres - contemporary, paranormal, fantasy, romance, and a combination of all of those. Add romantic suspense to that list! Till Death is very different compared to her other books, but it's easily one of her best books.

Sasha Keaton is coming back to her hometown after ten years, to help her mother with her struggling inn. Ten years ago, Sasha was kidnapped by the Groom, but she escaped, becoming the first and only victim to do so. Ten years later, right around the time of her coming back to West Virginia, the kidnappings and murders begin again, and with so many details being exactly like how the Groom used to do things, it can't be a coincidence. Sasha isn't safe, and neither are countless innocent women. Sasha, her mother, her friends, and Cole Landis might not have enough time before this serial killer comes after Sasha for good.

This book really delivered on the "suspense" aspect. At first I thought I was going to be reading a carbon copy of Katee Robert's The Devil's Daughter, which just published a month ago. That book was awesome, by the way. There were definitely similarities, but the two books are so different. Both authors really nail the suspense, and the romance too, though I will say that Armentrout slays when it comes to romance, and this book was no exception.

From the start, you can tell how much Sasha's traumatic past is still affecting her. She has nightmares, flashbacks, and panic attacks, and just being back make sure shake. But she is not a coward and in many ways, she isn't afraid. I love how strong Sasha is and how much stronger she becomes. As the story unfolds, the case gets weirder and creepier and more connected to Sasha, but she handles everything well. Realistically, and also, well.

Suffice it to say, I liked Sasha. I liked her vulnerabilities and her walls. She had every right to be afraid and closed off. But it was nice to see her open up and really live...

... Which a big part of that is because of Cole Landis. Ten years ago, Cole and Sasha were in the beginning of what would have been an adorable and swoony relationship, as two college students. He is three years older than her, and now he is an FBI agent. Ten years didn't diminish her feelings for him - and it turns out, the same is true for him. Cole is a huge part of Sasha's emotional journey of this book. He is with her through everything that happens in this book, and cares for her and protects her like a man that will never give up and won't let go. Cole is such a sweetheart and a fiercely protective man, and he's exactly what Sasha needed - and wanted. I swooned over the man at least a dozen times because dang, he is definitely too good to be true.

The romance is and isn't a big part of the book. It certainly isn't the most important aspect, but it is very, very there. Cole and Sasha reconnect and fall for each other (again) pretty quickly, but not in an insta-love type of way. This romance is technically a second-chance romance, but without all the angst of one person hurting the other and breaking up. So it was a second-chance romance, but really, it was a first-love romance too. I adored the romance.

A note - this is 100% an adult romantic suspense novel. There are some very steamy scenes involving Cole and Sasha. I definitely approve and loved their significance, but just keep that in mind if you're a younger reader or looking to recommend this book to a younger reader.

I also loved some of the other relationships of this story. Sasha's relationship with her mom and her relationship with her best friend Miranda are both very positive and strong relationships, which was nice to see.

One thing I want to mention is how Sasha's kidnapping/experience (for lack of a better word) is so heartbreaking and cruel, but it isn't a major plot point. Like, the awful, sick things that the Groom did to her aren't totally and fully stated - and it isn't necessary, because (1) we can read between the lines for what isn't stated directly and (2) this book isn't entirely about her moving through that trauma. She spent six years doing intense therapy to work through that trauma. I like that this book didn't focus on her emotional pain from what the Groom did - though what he did was extremely important (and terrible and twisted and sick) to the story.

The author twisted the story so that you're not quite sure who the Groom was and who the new killer is. BUT, I will say that upon meeting a certain character, I knew that would be the killer. I just knew. One critical detail about that character, mentioned in passing when the character is first introduced (somewhat early on in the book) tipped me off. I was confident that that was the killer, and I looked for shady behavior and "Easter eggs" as I read. It sucks that I knew early on, but I'm pretty sure that was just me and most people won't guess so early. So, be prepared to be swung all over the place, because even though I got the killer correct, there were other aspects that were extremely surprising.

Overall, this book really delivered, in terms of the suspense, and the romance. I loved how important both of those aspects were to the story. I love Cole and Sasha's relationship and how strong it was, completely unshakable and no drama. I loved seeing Sasha get stronger and move forward - but Cole too (because what happened to Sasha really affected him too). I really enjoyed this book!

What I Did Not Like:

I already talked about this above, but I'm kind of sad that I guessed the killer so early on. Again, it's likely just me being too clever and/or suspicious of everyone, and I think most readers so far were fairly surprised. And there are other aspects of the climax and ending that will surprise you. Anyway this is a "dislike" that isn't really a dislike because it's entirely my problem/fault!

Would I Recommend It:

I highly recommend this book if you like suspense! Or if you like romance, because this book keeps pretty steamy (like, adult romance steamy), and the romance is so sweet. I'm not totally into suspense (I'm a scaredy cat) and this book was kind of scary/creepy but not so much so that I was freaked out (and again, I'm the scaredest of scaredy cats). I highly recommend this book, but also The Devil's Daughter by Katee Robert (though that book's romance it a little less X-rated).

Rating:

4 stars. Maybe don't do what I did and read this one at night! Read it in broad daylight but also in an enclosed area where you know all of the exits and entrances... this book has me feeling so paranoid right now. This is the sixteenth book of Armentrout's that I've read, and I think it's her best yet. Not necessarily my favorite (though it's up there), but in my opinion, her most well-written book yet.

The Excerpt:

She spied him at the coffee shop table in the back by the bathroom. He sat with two cups in front of him, looking at something on his phone.

She should have figured he’d top off a night of expert going down on her with coffee. The man did savor his caffeine.

As she walked through the line of people and got closer, she tried not to think about how her body had moved under him. Or that tongue. At least he proved one thing—he was not all work and no play. The man knew his way around a woman. Understood pleasure and was not one bit selfish in bed.

She pulled out the chair across from him, wincing when it screeched across the floor, and sat down. “You’re here.”

He put the cell down. One button click and the screen went dark. “Where should I be?”

“Excellent question.”

He looked delicious. The bright green tie perfectly matched his eyes. He had the dark suit on and wore a slight smile. He looked more relaxed than during their usual meetings. A little more approachable, maybe.

When the conversation stopped, he sat back in his chair and watched her. His gaze never wavered. “I’m not clear what’s happening right now.”

That described most of her relationship with him. “How does it feel to be lost in the conversation? Strange, right?”

“Maybe we should start over.” He pushed the one coffee cup closer to her. “This is for you.”

Every movement, every time he shifted or his fingers wrapped around something new, something inside her crackled. She felt every gesture as if he were touching her.

“Is that what you want? After last night, I mean.” She hadn’t really meant to say that. To just bring up the evening without the customary chatting and flirting first.

His smile faded a bit. “I feel as if I missed a text.”

She was starting to think she was the only one walking around in a haze today. If this whole crackle thing only ran one way she was going to be really embarrassed. So, she tried again. “I wondered if you’d do that whole hard-to-get thing.”

“Does that really strike you as something I’d do?” His eyebrow lifted as he took a sip from his cup.

She conducted a quick glance around. Some people waited in line. Others pushed and shoved their way around the congested shop. No one seemed to notice them, but she leaned in and dropped her voice anyway. “Some men get weird after sex.”

He leaned in, meeting her halfway across the small table. “Technically, we didn’t have sex.”

The teasing words eased some of the tension zipping around inside her. “How would you describe it?”

Part of her really wanted him to describe it. To go into great detail and maybe foreshadow what other bedroom tricks he possessed. The rest of her wanted to push him. There was something about him sitting there, all proper and businesslike, that made her feel extra naughty.

“From the look on your face I assume you don’t think I’ll talk dirty in public.” He slid his arm across the table and turned his hand palm up. “You are absolutely wrong.”

She wanted to take the dare and reach out and touch him. “Doesn’t seem to fit with that fancy suit.”

“Don’t let the jacket fool you.”

“Oh, really?” She gave in and traced her fingertips over the lines on his palm.

His fingers curled around hers, but he kept the touch light. “Underneath is an actual man.”

“Do tell.” And she meant that in every way. He’d shared something so personal, so difficult, for him. Now she craved more.

“Who wants to see you naked again.”

All the air left her body. She could almost hear the whooshing sound. “Subtle.”

The Excerpt:

She handed him a water bottle and sat down on the opposite end on the love seat, as far from him as possible, which amounted to a half cushion away. “I wasn’t sure you’d come over when I called.”

The bottle made a crinkling noise when he grabbed on to it. “Why not?”

He didn’t mention that she’d used his emergency private number for a nonemergency, so neither did she. “You kind of ran out of here last night.”

Then she’d thought about him all night while Tyler sat there talking about his new job and the new city he loved. Emery had been happy for him, even as a part of her grumbled that it had been so easy for him to move on and never mention Tiffany.

For most of the night she’d been guilty of the same sin. As he talked, her mind switched to Wren. The sound of his voice. The way his muscles felt through his shirt. She certainly wouldn’t have won any Good Friend prize for her mental wanderings.

“You had company. Something and someone else to occupy your time.” Wren didn’t look at her as he set the unopened bottle on the coffee table.

She took in the stiffness of his shoulders and the fact he hadn’t even bothered to take off his suit jacket. He walked in and went to the couch because she told him to have a seat. Very little else had transpired except for her why-am-I-doing-this panicked race to the kitchen for water. “Don’t do that.”

He leaned back on the cushions and faced her. “What?”

Gone was the easy flow of conversation from last night and the touching. Yeah, he didn’t look even a little interested in touching, which was a damn shame. “You sound all haughty and businesslike.”

“You may have just summed up the majority of my personality.” He smiled but the gesture didn’t quite reach his eyes. It looked forced and disappeared right after it happened.

She tugged on the wrapper around her water bottle. Picked at the end until she could rip off a nice long piece. “I don’t buy that. Not anymore.”
His gaze bounced from her hands to her face. “What changed?”

“I don’t even know. Maybe it’s a sense or a hope.” Of course, neither of those explained why the air in the room was all but suffocating her.

“Ah.”

Talk about an unhelpful response. She put the bottle on the table next to his and sat back again, just inches away from him. “Does that mean you get what I’m saying?”

“Not even a little bit.”
She would have laughed at that if the tension strangling her in a bear hug would ease. “Any chance I could get you to take off your jacket? Maybe loosen that tie.”

“You still seem overly concerned with my wardrobe.” But he relaxed a little. Sank back into the cushions and rested his arm across the top.

“It’s like armor.”

His fingers tapped against the love seat. “It’s wool, I believe.”

“Now you’re being a gigantic pain in the ass, just because you can.” The guy could not take a hint. She was dying to get him out of the suit. She could pretend this had to do with wanting to know he was human and to loosen him up. Yeah, there was some of that, but this was really about wanting more from him.

The Excerpt:

She didn’t hear footsteps or see a shadow until the legs of the chair on the other side of the cafĂ© table screeched against the tile floor and a man sat down across from her. Strike that, not just a man. Not part of the usual striped-tie, navy-suit business crowd she waded through each day. This one had a lethal look to him. Dark hair with an even darker sense of danger wrapping around him.

He didn’t smile or frown while his gaze searched her face. Broad shoulders filled out every inch of the jacket of his expensive black suit. Those bright green eyes matched his tie and provided a shock of color to the whole Tall, Dark and Deadly look he had going on.

He managed to telegraph power without saying a word as a hum of energy pulsed around him. She fought off a shiver and reached for her spoon. Hardly a weapon, but something about this guy made her insides bounce and the blood leave her head, and she had no idea why.

“Excuse me?” She used a tone that let him know just sitting down without asking was not okay. Some women might like the commanding, takeover type of guy who assumed his presence was welcome everywhere. Not her.

“We need to come to an understanding.”

The voice, deep and husky with an edge of gravely heat, skidded across her senses. She felt it as much as she heard it. The tone struck her, held her mesmerized, before the meaning behind the words hit her. “Uh-huh, well, maybe we should understand that seat is already taken,” she said.

“By?”

“Literally anyone else who wants it.” She looked down, making a show of taking the lid off her cup and stirring the few inches of coffee left inside. That struck her as the universal not-interested signal.

She waited for him to grumble or call her a name and scamper off. She had issued a dismissal after all. But his presence loomed and she glanced up again.

“Emery Finn.” Her name rolled off his tongue.

That shiver moving through her turned into a full body shake. “Wait, do we know each other?”

“You’ve been making inquiries.”

It was the way he said it as much as what he said. How he sat there without moving. Perfect posture and laser-like focus that stayed on her face, never wavering even as a pretty woman openly gawked at him as she passed by.

The surreal scene had Emery grabbing on to her cup with both hands. “So?”

“Wrong answer.”

She shot him a sexy smile and his mouth crashed against hers. The kiss, hot and wild, burned through him. Blood roared in his ears and raced in his veins. She seduced him just by standing there. Those sweet curves. The slip of her tongue inside his. The wet heat of her mouth.

I loved the romance between Wren and Emery! I cut this scene off way too early but I didn't want to spoil anything. :D This book is yet another Dimon winner!

What I Liked:

No one does romantic suspense like HelenKay Dimon. I have yet to read a book of hers that I didn't like. Usually you'll see me read historical romance novels, or contemporary romance novels, but romantic suspense seems to take a backseat. However, I know my go-to author for this genre is HelenKay Dimon. Her stories of sexy commanding alpha males and strong feisty women are so engrossing, moving, and lovable.

In this new series, Dimon takes on a new set of characters. We're not looking at a man in uniform - no, Wren is a business. He's a "fixer"; he's sort of like a private detective, except that he researches a problem, and then fixes it. He's a powerful, rich man, but he doesn't like to be known. No one knows who Wren is, in real life, and within the man himself. Until Emery. Emery has been trying to find Wren for the last weeks, because she found the name "Wren" in a file of her missing cousin's case. She is determined to find Wren to see if he something to do with her cousin's disappearance. Instead, Wren finds her, and he begins to help her. Emery finds this mysterious, totally formal and somewhat robotic man intriguing, and frustrating. Wren is not only helping Emery find the cousin, but he's protecting her from the danger that she unknowingly brought on herself.

I'm not sure if this is a new Dimon favorite of mine (Mine takes the cake at the moment), but it certainly comes close. From the start, there was something about this book that screamed my name. I knew I would enjoy it. Was it the cover? The mysterious synopsis? Simply the fact that it was written by HelenKay Dimon? We'll never know.

To start, I adored Wren. I haven't read a book featuring a hero quite like him. He comes across as robotic and distant, because he is precise and neat, deliberate and intelligent. He does not interact with fellow humans very often (except his best friend, and his housekeeper), and you can clearly tell by how he doesn't always pick up on subtle social cues. Don't get me wrong, the man is so observant and very, very good at his job. But sometimes he's a bit dense, when it comes to emotions and feelings. The "robotic" description would seem closest to his personality... except you quickly see that he is not that way at all. He wears black suits and crisp white shirts underneath every day; he is dangerous and powerful and exacting; but he is protective and direct, honest and genuine, and so selfless. Wren is easily the most complicated and complex character of the book, and he's my favorite character of the book.

I liked Emery a lot though! She is practically the definition of a strong and capable woman. She got on my nerves a few times (especially when she thought she was more capable of investigating than Wren - no honey, that's his job). But I loved how direct she was, how she went after what she wanted. She didn't always do well with Wren's commanding, bossy personality, because she's a bit bossy herself. Emery is impulsive too, but she's smart.

The pair together... they fit well together. They argue and bicker, and there are disagreements left and right (especially on Emery's side). Emery would say that Wren is so difficult (which he is - stubborn especially), and Wren would say that Emery is contrary. Their interactions are always entertaining.

I liked seeing the romance unfold, between Wren and Emery. Emery slowly begins to trust Wren as the book goes on, and Wren slowly begins to let Emery in. It was kind of bizarre that all of Wren's walls tumbled right down for this one woman, but Dimon made it very believable. Additionally, the chemistry was pretty hot. Combine an alpha male and an alpha female and you've got a whole lot of passion. It was great to see a romance in which both characters simply go after what they want.

I was a huge fan of the ending, and not just because of the HEA. You know in the climax, how there is often some "big reveal" or something that makes the couple temporarily break up? This is so so common in romance novels. In this case, Wren reveals something that he learns late in the book, about the missing cousin. Emery flips out and says a whole bunch of things that were wrong and insensitive, and she storms out.

Why I love this climax (and ending) is because Emery is the one who messed up, and Emery is the one to go after Wren. I love that both of them fight for each other (really, Wren does not give up), but it's Emery that goes after Wren (especially since she was the one who needed space). I love this! Yes! You mess up and then you fix your problems. I hate it when the woman messes up but it's the man that is grovelling. Not the case, in this book!

And there is a resolution, in terms of the missing cousin. That whole part of the book is so heartbreaking, and not just for Emery. There are parts of Wren's past that have nothing to do with Emery or her missing cousin, but all him to relate to Emery and her missing cousin. Wren's past is terribly sad, and you can clearly see how his past shaped him.

Anyway! Overall, I really enjoyed this book (clearly). I think there were a few minor things that are worth mentioning but those things definitely did not bother me enough for me to drop my rating. I absolutely cannot wait to read the next book in this series!

What I Did Not Like:

Minor things -- occasionally I found Emery to be irrational and b****y. She wasn't cruel to Wren at any point, but she could have been less abrasive.

Another minor thing -- usually Dimon's books are MUCH steamier! I was a little disappointed. Dimon dimmed the lights and the stopped the scene several times, in terms of sex scenes. So we're left with, like, two fully written sex scenes, and implications of other ones. And the fully written ones... I didn't hate them, but didn't love them either. There was no variety. Emery on top, Wren on the bottom... every time. No variety! The implied sex scenes were the ones that varied, and none of them were written out. Disappointing! I bet if this book had some of those varied sex scenes written out, this one would have gotten five stars. Because steamy! Variety! Good stuff.

Would I Recommend It:

If you like suspense, and adult romance, then I highly recommend any of Dimon's books, including this one. I recommend this book and you should read it especially for Wren. Discovering more about Wren bit by bit... *swoon* I adored him. I haven't ever seen a hero quite like him!

Rating:

4 stars. Dimon never disappoints me! She always delivers, and I'm glad for that. I am looking forward to reading The Enforcer (though I am a tiny bit disappointed that the next book is not about Garrett, Wren's best friend and second-in-command!).
